To learn to fear the Lord...
I. Click here to READ Deuteronomy 4 first.
II. One thing the Bible teaches: (In encouraging the Israelites to obey God's law, Moses reminded them of their unique privilege through which they experienced the presence of the Lord in the wilderness...)
10 Remember the day you stood before the Lord your God at Horeb, when the Lord said to me, ‘Assemble the people to Me, that I may let them hear My words so they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children.’
III. Reflection
* Questions: How can one have fear for the Lord?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God: I thank You for teaching me clearly today how to fear You--(1) I need to be exposed to Your words, and (2) I need to learn to fear You. This is the learning that requires regular practice to obtain the skill and regular doing to sharpen the newly-acquired skill... as any young lion would (Ezek 19:6). I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of the one learning in life--learn from You (Matthew 11:28-29). O Lord Jesus! Please help me today, as in every day, practice the walk after You. And when I fail to follow Your word, please help me to try again. Amen
