His NO means a lot...

I. Click here to READ Deuteronomy 3 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches(Moses shared with the Israelites one of his experiences about praying to the Lord. This was when they were at the doorstep of the promised land...)

23 “I also pleaded with the Lord at that time, saying, 24 ‘O Lord God, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your strong hand; for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do such works and mighty acts as Yours? 25 Let me, I pray, cross over and see the fair land that is beyond the Jordan, that good hill country and Lebanon." 26 But the Lord was angry with me on your account, and would not listen to me; and the Lord said to me, Enough! Speak to Me no more of this matter.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWith whom was Moses sharing his experience? What was that experience? Was there any sense of shame in his sharing? Did the Lord punish Him for doing what he just did (in prayer)?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me clearly that having no result after having prayed intently and sincerely about something is no shame. It is no indication of a lack of leadership or spiritual maturity. One never gets punished for persistence in praying. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of the importance of being persistent in prayer (Luke 11:8). O Lord! Please encourage me to be persistent in my prayer. Even at the end, in Your omniscience, Your answer will be a "no". I will understand that it is also a no to shame, no to punishment, and no to Your displeasure at me as a person. Yes, Lord Jesus, please encourage me to keep praying. I just know that You desire to hear my prayer. Amen
