Infighting pleases the devil...
I. Click here to READ Deuteronomy 2 first.
II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Moses relayed the Lord's instruction to the Israelites as to how to travel the last leg of the journey to the promised land...)
4 . . . “You will pass through the territory of your brothers the sons of Esau who live in Seir; and they will be afraid of you. So be very careful; 5 do not provoke them . . . 9 Then the Lord said to me, ‘Do not harass Moab, nor provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land as a possession, because I have given Ar to the sons of Lot as a possession.’ . . . 19 When you come opposite the sons of Ammon, do not harass them nor provoke them, for I will not give you any of the land of the sons of Ammon as a possession, because I have given it to the sons of Lot as a possession.’
III. Reflection
* Questions: What was the common factor in the above instructions given to the Israelites by the Lord?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me clearly that You do not want to see infighting among brothers in the family. Three times in the same short instruction to Your people, You made that very clear--"do not harass nor provoke them". I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that no kingdom, city, or household can stand self-inflicted infighting (Matt 12:25). O Lord! Help us be aware of Satan's plot to cause infighting among our brothers and sisters in the family. Help us do the right thing to honor You by stopping it in its tracks. Please help me do my part today. Amen
