Signs and Wonders: big deal!
I. Click here to READ Deuteronomy 13 first.
II. One thing the Bible teaches: (Moses cautioned the Israelites about false prophets...)
1 If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and the sign or the wonder comes true, concerning which he spoke to you, saying, ‘Let us go after other gods (whom you have not known) and let us serve them,’ 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out if you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
III. Reflection
* Questions: What is more important from a false prophet that the Lord wants us to watch out for--what they do or what they say? Why?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me here that, contrary to normal thinking in life, what false prophets say is more important than what they do. Your word shows me today that dark power can do signs or wonders through which it may lure people from You. May I not be deceived by them through their working signs and wonders. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to warn me of such false prophets (Matthew 7:15). Please help me, Holy Spirit, to remember that (1) leaving the worshiping of the Father will trigger deadly punishment, and (2) not confessing that the Lord Jesus Christ is God in the flesh is a clear evidence of false teaching (1 John 4:1-3). Please help me to be observant. Amen
