From the Egyptian Land to the Promised Land...

I. Click here to READ Deuteronomy 11 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (The Lord calls His people to pay attention to the Promised Land...)

10 For the land that you are entering to take possession of it is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated it, like a garden of vegetables. 11 But the land that you are going over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water by the rain from heaven, 12 a land that the Lord your God cares for. The eyes of the Lord your God are always upon it, from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat did the promised land represent for the Israelites then? What does it represent for Christ's followers today? How about the land of Egypt--then for them? and now for us?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for letting me know that the Promised Land represents something new and transformative, departing from the old and enslaving land of Egypt. That was true for the Israelites there and then, and this is also true for us, Your followers, here and now. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that no one tears a piece of cloth from a new garment and puts it on an old garment, and no one puts new wine into old wineskins (Luke 5:36-37). Please, Lord Jesus, help me to live up to Your expectation of newness and transformation in my life today in You. Please help me to shake off things that still linger from my old Egypt days. Today. Amen
