All counted singly...

II. One thing the Bible teaches

Then it came about after the plague, that the Lord spoke to Moses and to Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying, “Take a census of all the congregation of the sons of Israel from twenty years old and upward, by their fathers’ households, whoever is able to go out to war in Israel.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat was the purpose of taking a census of all the congregation? Wasn't it known already before God?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for reminding me that You are the great Lord whose power is abundant and whose understanding is beyond measure. The census was not taken for You to know. It was for the leaders of the congregation to know how many able people they had. Also, it was for each person in the congregation to know that he or she is able and counted. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You know Your own well (John 10:14) and that You expect Your own to know they are all the same in Your salvation (Gal 3:28). Dear Lord Jesus, today please help me honor You by sincerely showing Your children in the congregation that they all are able and counted, singly. And that this is Your command. Amen
