II. One thing the Bible teaches(The Israelites were informed of the terrible consequences of their distrusting the Lord, ranging from the spies' plague-related death to being prohibited from entering the promised land. Having heard that...)

40 In the morning, however, they rose up early and went up to the ridge of the hill country, saying, “Here we are; we have indeed sinned, but we will go up to the place which the Lord has promised.”

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat was fundamentally wrong with what the Israelites said in the above verse?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for letting me see the inappropriate action that the Israelites did that brought them severe devastation from their enemies--"we have sinned but..." O Lord! Please do not let me go forth knowing full well that my life is full of things that are not pleasing to You. Please do not let me behave as if nothing happened. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching that I must not go forth; I must stop and I must turn around to repent before I may continue with what I want to do (Rev 2:5). Dear Lord Jesus: please help me today to obey You--let me rather stop, repent and rebuild slowly but surely than go on without the first love for You. Amen
