11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)  12 They put him in custody so that the command of the Lord might be made clear to them.

III. Reflection

* Questions: What was the benefit of putting someone in custody first?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for showing me the wisdom of Your people when they did not act immediately upon getting emotionally hurt, or were in a rage. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me of Your teaching, and example, that I ought to be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger (James 1:19). Please help me today to practice having a cool off period first before acting on something. Please prevent me from flying into a rage at home, at work, or in the community of faith. Amen
