26 The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 27 “On exactly the tenth day of this seventh month is the day of atonement; it shall be a holy convocation for you, and you shall humble your souls and present an offering by fire to the Lord.

III. Reflection

* Questions: Why don't we keep this day of atonement anymore?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for reminding me that because the day of atonement was tied to the tenth day of the seventh month, it came only once a year! Establishing the day of atonement for Your people indicated that You always wanted us to be cleansed of our sins in our lives. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that with Your sacrificing Yourself on the cross, the day of atonement is now--today everyday (Lk 23:43; 2 Cor 6:2). Thank You, Lord Jesus, that I don't need to wait for the entire year to repent, to ask for forgiveness, and to be free from the grip of sin. Today, I will rejoice because of the gift of salvation in the Lord Jesus. Today is the time. Amen

O Lord! I pray for certain readers who have yet to receive redemption from You. May the Holy Spirit lead them to the cross to reach out to receive Your gift of salvation. Today. Amen
