The dead must live...

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (After inspecting the leper and finding that he has been healed...)
4 then the priest shall give orders to take two live clean birds and cedar wood and a scarlet string and hyssop for the one who is to be cleansed. 5 The priest shall also give orders to slay the one bird in an earthenware vessel over running water. 6 As for the live bird, he shall take it together with the cedar wood and the scarlet string and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird that was slain over the running water. 7 He shall then sprinkle seven times the one who is to be cleansed from the leprosy and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the live bird go free over the open field.
III. Reflection
* Questions: How did they know which bird to kill and which one to let live?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God, I thank You for letting me see that there were absolutely no criteria to judge which bird was to live and which one to be killed on that day. It was a random process. The bird that was alive relied on the blood of the one that was killed to fly away freely and peacefully. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that while humanity makes decisions based on randomization, Yours was not. Your decision was made at the beginning of creation: the dead must live and the Living One must die. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for dying for my death so that today, like a bird, I can fly freely in the open and blessed sky above. O God! Please help me live for Your today (2 Cor 5:15). Amen
I pray for certain readers who need to live a life free of the heavy burden of guilt and sin. O Holy Spirit, please show them the way to the cross. Today. Amen
