Holiday vs. Holy Day...

I. Click here to READ Exodus 35 first.

II. One thing the Bible teaches(Moses told God's people what the Lord told him while on Mt. Sinai...)

“For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day you shall have a holy day, a sabbath of complete rest to the Lord; whoever does any work on it shall be put to death.

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat is the difference between a holy day and a holiday?

IV. Application:

Thank You, Lord, for teaching me that a sabbath is a holy day, not a holiday. A holiday is when we can break from our regular work and relax, rest, enjoy food, drink, or fellowship with others. These we do while thinking about someone or something that was the reason for the holiday (Esther 2:18). Holy Day, like the sabbath (the day of rest), is also when we can break from our regular work and relax, rest, enjoy food and fellowship with others. All these are done with You in mind, Lord--You alone. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that now when I do not keep the day of rest or do not keep it properly as instructed, I am not in danger of being put to death as the penalty. That is because You were put to death in my place already. For that reason, O Lord! Help me keep the Sunday sacred to worship You reverently and to fellowship with Your people joyfully and sincerely. Amen
