Perpetual vs. Uncommittal...
I. Click here to READ Exodus 30 first.
II. One thing the Bible teaches: (The Lord continued to give instructions to Moses about making an Altar of Incense...)
7 Aaron shall burn fragrant incense on it; he shall burn it every morning when he trims the lamps. 8 When Aaron trims the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense. There shall be perpetual incense before the Lord throughout your generations.
III. Reflection
* Questions: What are the antonyms of perpetual (always, forever)?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God: I thank You for reminding me that You are the forever God. Because of that, You expected Aaron and his sons to keep the lights on forever, to keep the priesthood forever, and now to always burn the incense in the morning and the evening throughout the generations. Thank you, Lord, for showing me that not doing things perpetually means doing things temporarily or intermittently; it means there is no commitment. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You are the living model of being perpetual and faithful--when You love Your own, You keep loving them until the end (John 13:1). O Lord! Today I pray for forgiveness for the times when my work for the Kingdom was intermittent or non-committal. Please teach me to be perpetual at least during the time of my commitment at church, at work, or in life. Amen
