Turn back, Go forward, Go north...

II. One thing the Bible teaches(So the Israelites exited Egypt and the Lord led them through the wilderness...)

1 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Tell the sons of Israel to turn back and camp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea; you shall camp in front of Baal-zephon, opposite it, by the sea . . . 15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the sons of Israel to go forward."

III. Reflection

QuestionsWhat was the significance of the Lord telling the Israelites to turn back when the angry Egyptian army was chasing after them? And then later He commanded them to again go forward?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God: I do not understand the significance of Your commanding Your people sometimes to turn back in their journey. At times You told them to go forward. At other times, You told them to go north (Deut 2:3). I only know that You are the Commander. Dear Lord God, please do direct my life. I am blessed that You care enough to want to lead me every step of my life's journey. Please help me to trustingly follow Your directions. I thank You, Lord Jesus, for taking me to this point to remind me that You have been doing just that--not only do You direct my path, but also You go on that path ahead of me as my good Shepherd (John 10:4). Please help me to stay close to Your shepherding today. Amen

I pray for certain readers who are yet to be in Your flock. May they hear the Shepherd's calling to come home to Your guide, care, and protection. Today. Amen
