One for all and Once for all...

I. Click here to READ first Genesis 42

II. One thing the Bible teaches:(just three days ago Joseph demanded that one can be free to go home but the rest of the brothers are to stay back to be imprisoned. But...)

18 Now Joseph said to them on the third day, “Do this and live, for I fear God: 19 if you are honest men, let one of your brothers be confined in your prison; but as for the rest of you, go, carry grain for the famine of your households, 20 and bring your youngest brother to me, so your words may be verified, and you will not die.” And they did so.

III. Reflection

QuestionsFrom a decision to require the rest of the brothers to be imprisoned so that one of them to go free to another decision to require only one to be imprisoned so that the rest of the brothers can go free, what made Joseph change his mind? How long did it take him to make that change?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God: Thank You for showing me that it took three days and with the influence of God for Joseph to change to a decision that only through one of the brothers, the rest of them can be set free. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for reminding me that, with the intervention of the trinity God at Your resurrection, through You alone, the rest of humanity can be set free (1 Cor. 15:21-22)--free from the bondage of sin for those who believe and receive You. Today, please help me live as a person who has been set free and who uses the newly obtained freedom to let others know about the Good News in the Savior Jesus. I thank You for the power in the One through whom all can be set free. One for all and Once for all. Amen
