Stay in your lane...

I. Click here to READ first Genesis 29

II. One thing the Bible teaches:

He said, “Behold, it is still high day; it is not time for the livestock to be gathered together. Water the sheep and go, pasture them.” But they said, “We cannot until all the flocks are gathered together and the stone is rolled from the mouth of the well; then we water the sheep.”

III. Reflection

Questions: What was Jacob's background? What qualified him to advise the veteran shepherd?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God, I thank You for taking me back to Your Word to know that Jacob, growing up, was a quiet man dwelling in tents (Gen 25:27), unlike his brother Esau, who was very active out in the field. Yet, here, he advised the veteran shepherds in this passage what to do and when to do their shepherding jobs. And he was promptly corrected! Very appropriately so! I thank You, Lord, for taking me to this point to remind me that there are certain things that people have been trained to do, and I would do well to stay in my lane to do what I have been trained to do. May I clearly recognize Your giving different gifts to different people (1 Cor. 12:4-7) by praying for Your people to execute well their given gifts to glory You and to further Your Kingdom. Amen
