20 The man called his wife's name Eve because she was the mother of all living.

* Questions: What did Adam say before verse 20? What did Eve say before verse 20?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God: I thank you for showing me that Eve previously blamed the devil for the deadly mistake she made. Also, previously, Adam blamed his wife for the deadly bite of the forbidden fruit that she gave him. Adam and Eve, however, never blamed each other. As a result, there wasn't any verbal exchange between them. I thank You for taking me to this point to show me the kind heart of the husband Adam--despite the deadly situation they found themselves in (disobeying God)--Adam called his wife by a name that was far from anything deadly that she had caused. He kindly called her Eve--the mother of all living!

O God! Please help me to be verbally kind starting within my family and out to the community of faith and beyond. May You be glorified by my talking, and yes, non-talking, by the names I call others, and the names I do not call others. Amen
