This old must go before God's blessings can flow...

I. Click here to READ first Genesis 17.

II. One thing the Bible teaches: (When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord made a covenant between Him and Abram to multiply him greatly. The Lord said to him...)

“Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham, for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations... 15 And God said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. 16 I will bless her, and moreover, I will give you a son by her. I will bless her, and she shall become nations; kings of peoples shall come from her.”

III. Reflection

Questions: What must have taken place before God's blessing can start flowing?

IV. Application:

Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that change(s) must occur before Your blessing can flow in people's lives. Abram changed to Abraham and Sarai to Sarah. I thank You for taking me to this point to remind me that although certain changes must take place, changes must come from You. It was You who changed the names. Abraham and Sarah responded to and lived with their name change.

O God! I thank You for displaying Your love for me--one among Your sheep--by calling me by my name (Jn 10:3). May I respond to Your calling me either to correct my pathway or to encourage me to keep moving. Today. Amen

I pray for certain readers today. Please make the needed changes that only You have the authority to do in their lives so that they can start enjoying Your blessings. Please help them respond to Your changes that only they can to maintain Your blessings. Amen
