II. One thing the Bible teaches: (The Lord told Abram about the future of his descendants...)
13 . . . “Know for certain that your offspring will be sojourners in a land that is not theirs and will be servants there, and they will be afflicted for four hundred years... 16 And they shall come back here in the fourth generation, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
III. Reflection
* Questions: What did Abram say afterward?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that as You laid out the plan for the future of Abram's descendants, he said not a word, even on the part of their being enslaved and afflicted in Egypt for 400 years. I thank You for taking me to this point to remind me of Abram's respected qualities. He could not be a man of faith if he was not trusting. He trusted that You are a good Father and an almighty God. Because of that, You always have a good plan for Your beloved children (Jer 29:11). And You can execute it! O God! Please help me to be like Abram--to not question Your plan even the tough and hard-to-understand part of it. You are good. All the time. Amen
