II. One thing the Bible teaches: (having heard that his nephew, Lot, was taken away as a prisoner of war by an alliance of four kings in the region, Abram quickly took his trained men to pursue the kings to rescue his nephew. Mission accomplished. On his way home...)
18 ... Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was priest of God Most High.) 19 And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; 20 and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!”
III. Reflection
* Questions: Why was Abram blessed by the very special priest of God Most High?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me the one action Abram did before being blessed by Melchizedek, the priest of God Most High. And that was when he went in pursuit of the four kidnapped armies to rescue his nephew Lot. Successfully! Going to war was done many times by Abram successfully in his life. But only this time he was blessed by the special Priest Melchizedek. I thank You for taking me to this point to show me that it was love in action the reason for Abram to be blessed by You.
O God! I thank You for loving us by action, not word. I thank You for coming to be with us, teach us, die for us, and return to life for our sake. Please give me an opportunity to show love in action. Today. Amen
I pray for certain readers who are yet to have a relationship with You. May they perceive Your sacrificial love in action to come to You and be one of Your sheep. Today. Amen
