Sins go up, God comes down...

II. One thing the Bible teaches:
1 Now the whole earth had one language and the same words. 2 And as people migrated from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. 3 And they said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.” And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.” 5 And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of man had built... 9 ... And from there the Lord dispersed them over the face of all the earth.
III. Reflection
* Questions: What was the purpose of building the Babel Tower? Was that a sin? What did God do in responding to people's committing sin?
IV. Application:
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that after the Great Flood people wanted to build a city and a high-to-heaven Babel Tower to show their pride and to not be dispersed over the face of the whole earth. They wanted their living activities to be concentrated in one place against the will of the Lord in that people must be scattered to fill the earth (Gen 1:28). God's response to man's sin was to come down and correct the situation to be right according to His will. I thank You for taking me to this point to show me that at the right time as humanity sank deeply into its piled-up sins, You came down, through the Lord Jesus, to offer Your salvation to people of the world (Lk. 2:11-12).
O God! Please remind me that You are watching my way of living. You pay attention to my sinful activities. And You will act surely to correct them. In the end, Your will and Your way will be done. May I conform to Your way and Your will in the first place. Amen
I pray that certain readers who do not yet have You as Savior will be moved by the Holy Spirit to have a special relationship with You. Today. Amen
