II. One thing the Bible teaches: (After the Great Flood, the nations spread abroad on the earth from the sons of Noah...)
1 These are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Sons were born to them after the flood.
2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras.
6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan.
22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arpachshad, Lud, and Aram.
III. Reflection
* Questions: How many grandsons did Noah have?
IV. Application
Dear Lord God: I thank You for showing me that Noah had many great-grandsons. Altogether they came from 16 grandsons. These grandsons came from the three sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They all traced back to Noah who traced back to Adam. I thank You, God, for giving us a place to trace back our existence. O God! We profess that we have been fearfully and wonderfully made. As trees have roots, people have ancestors. I thank You for taking me to this point to remind me that I am somebody, You loved me so much not to let me come from no-body!
Teach me today, O Lord, to remember my root no matter how humble it may have been. I thank You for my parents and their parents. I thank You for being their gracious and almighty Creator. I worship You. Amen
